How we make them.

fourfifty videos are AI-assisted and human-reviewed. Here's what that actually means — no hand-waving.

Every video carries this line in its description:
“AI-generated narration; some visuals may be AI-generated.”

Where the ideas come from

Each short begins with a real topic, not a hallucination. We pull from peer-reviewed research feeds (such as arXiv categories for astrophysics and cosmology), curated science journalism, and public science archives. A topic only becomes a script if it traces back to a real source.

The script

A large language model drafts the script from that source material, then shapes it to the channel's voice — calm, plainspoken, accurate, never hyped. The goal is one clear idea per video, explained simply. We avoid clickbait that the video can't pay off.

The narration

The voice you hear is AI-generated text-to-speech. It is synthetic — no human voice actor is recorded. This is disclosed on every video.

The visuals

Footage and images come from three kinds of source, mixed per scene:

  • Licensed stock footage — real video from Pexels, Pixabay and Coverr.
  • Public-domain & Creative Commons imagery — from Wikimedia Commons and public archives such as NASA.
  • AI-generated images — created for scenes that don't exist in stock (a creature mid-hunt, an abstract neural field, a cosmic vista), using open image models. These are part of why we disclose synthetic visuals.

Full source details and the licenses behind them are on the credits and licenses pages.

The human gate

This is the part most “AI channels” skip. Nothing publishes automatically. Each video stops at a review gate where a person watches it and either approves or rejects it before it's scheduled. A machine assembles the video; a human decides whether it goes out.

Accuracy & mistakes

We work hard to keep facts straight and grounded in real sources, but short-form simplification and automation can still produce errors. If you spot one, tell us and we'll fix or pull the video. Science is a moving target, and we'd rather correct than defend.

Platform disclosure

Because narration is synthetic and some visuals are AI-generated, we label videos as containing altered or synthetic content where platforms require it, in addition to the note in every description.
